TASHBEEK workshop in the UK
On 8th of January 2025, and in collaboration between Women-Space and the @Research Centre for Global Learning (GLEA) at Coventry University, we hosted a one-day workshop titled “Accelerate Your Leadership Career: Challenges, Opportunities, Networks, and Communities for Women in Academia.” The workshop was tailored for women in the university sector, providing a platform to explore barriers to leadership and strategies for advancement. Led by Prof Christina Hughes , Founder and CEO of Women-Space, participants engaged in insightful discussions on overcoming the inner critic, imposter syndrome, and intersectional sexism—key challenges that hinder women’s progression. The workshop focused on three strategies to tackle these barriers: Building self-belief and self-esteem, managing time effectively, creating diverse, global professional networks and securing sponsorships to enhance career progression.
More than 35 female academics joined us from across ten universities across the UK and Egypt. All showed commitment to advancing gender equity and leadership in higher education.
